Factual content drives Discovery to top LATAM ratings

Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic has claimed the highest ratings ever in Latin America, driven by leading factual network Discovery Channel.

The Kantar and Nielsen figures published by the company show that Discovery Channel remains Latin America’s most watched factual network in 2017, particularly among viewers aged 25-54, and in Colombia, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.

The media giant has also reported that Discovery Kids is the most watched preschool pay-TV network among children aged 4-11 and women aged 25-49. Discovery Home & Health was also the most watched lifestyle signal among women aged 18-49.

Discovery’s second-line channels saw important growth last year. Discovery Turbo delivered its highest ratings ever among those aged 25-54, delivering an 83% audience growth in Brazil and 60% in Colombia.

In addition, Investigation Discovery’s audience grew by 24% among people aged 25-54 and TLC delivered a 20% growth among women aged 18-49.
